What to Expect

Maybe you are returning to church, or coming to church for the very first time.
Whatever your story, we welcome you to come and join us for worship.

What is the service like?

Our service is modeled on the dialog God has with humanity through history and Scripture. Among other things this includes song, prayer, a sermon and a celebratory meal. Blending both ancient and contemporary sources, we try to speak directly to the average Seattleite, both to those who are new to the faith as well as though who have walked with Jesus their whole life.

What about children?

What about children? We love kids, and you’ll see a lot of them here at Green Lake. We offer a nursery for children ages 4 months - 2 years old. Children ages 3 - 1st Grade are invited to attend “Children’s Church” during the sermon. We believe it is important for children to be a part of our worshiping community, therefore Children's Church participants will be dismissed just prior to the sermon and will return to the service before the Lord’s Supper. They’re also welcome to stay in the service as well.

Additionally, we have nursery and classes offered during our Christian Formation Hour (10:15-11:15 am) for children 4 months - middle school. (Learn more about GL Kids)

Worship

Worship is the heart of Green Lake.

God calls his people from every part of the city. As we come together something glorious happens: we meet God face to face—Creator and creation, Redeemer and sinner. We believe this is a beautiful thing, a meeting of heaven and earth.

Our worship, like a drama, tells the story of the gospel through song and prayer, confession and artistry. Each piece invites us into a formative rhythm of thanksgiving and dependence. Using a blend of ancient and modern sources, we seek to speak to the average Seattleite—to skeptics and ardent believers alike—through the culture, language, and customs of the city.

The goal of worship is to proclaim the goodness of God in Christ Jesus—to lift him up for the whole world to see and enjoy. As a church we long to restore the beauty, goodness, and truth of God to the Green Lake neighborhood. Worship is simply the beginning of this process, and we invite you to join us.
