CrossPoint Churches
Green Lake Presbyterian Church is a CrossPoint congregation. CrossPoint is a different way to think about church. When most people think about "church" they think of a building, an assortment of ministries that meet their needs, or a group of people they love. And--this is important--they probably only think of all those things with only one congregation in mind.
Every CrossPoint church is all of those things, but the CrossPoint vision of church sees beyond that. By connecting the faith and resources of congregations around the city and the world, CrossPoint Churches can support mercy and church planting like a large church without giving up their identities as unique communities of believers in meaningful fellowship wit one another.
Think of CrossPoint as a family of churches in missional partnership to cross barriers that divide the Seattle area--and the world--and more together than any single congregation could imagine.
Presbyterian Church in America
The PCA is one of the faster growing denominations in the United States, with over 1450 churches and missions throughout the USA and Canada. There were over 306,000 communicant and non-communicant members as of December 2000.
"Reformed" defines the doctrinal beliefs of the PCA, which holds that the purest expressions of scriptural doctrine are found in the Calvinistic creeds, particularly the Westminster Confession of Faith.
The PCA's representative form of church government is rooted in its name -- presbyterian. Local churches are governed by elders (presbyters) elected by the church members. This form of government extends through the regional presbyteries, which facilitate connectionalism, to the national General Assembly, which expresses PCA's connectionalism and the bond of union between/among all the churches.
